Finn & Rey | Roses & Clover

– written & edited by HanSpinel

“Well, don’t get all mushy on us….”

In celebration of Valentine’s Day this week, I’ve put together a fan-adaptation and video study on the chemistry and bond between the characters Finn & Rey set to SYML – Mr. Sandman. The footage includes scenes from both The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi. Below, I briefly share choices in the editing room along with the video. Pairs nicely with Finn & Rey: Acts of True Love 😉 Hope you enjoy, and happy Valentine’s Eve! ❤

The Phantom Menace Awakens

-by HanSpinel

2019 marks the 20th anniversary for Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace! To commemorate and celebrate, I’ve made a personal pledge to do something The Phantom Menace-y each month and then share my adventure/journey with you all! ICYMI: for the month of January, I featured TPM concept art by Doug Chiang: Darth Maul and his Scimitar on Tatooine as my header image on twitter.

For February, I’ve created a fan-adaptation and trailer re-cut of The Phantom Menace by compiling a near-shot-for-shot visual parallel with the Official Trailer for Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens. More (and the video) below!

The Duality of the Skywalker Legacy

– Han Spinel

This video highlights the Duality of the Skywalker Legacy born from the choices of the Chosen One: Vader and the Darkness | Anakin and the Light. Kylo Ren seeks out the power of Darkness from Vader; he seeks to finish what his Grandfather started. Ultimately, only the Light of the Skywalker Legacy Saber calls out, and it chooses Rey. She follows a path hauntingly similar to both Anakin and Luke, but Rey’s last chapter is not yet written….

What will become of the Skywalker Legacy in Episode IX?

Star Wars The Force Awakens: A Chris Nolan Fan Trailer

Let’s take a trip in the wayback machine to when Colin Trevorrow was axed from Episode IX. It seems so long ago. Do you remember where you where? God, such a tragedy.

Anyway.

Before J.J. Abrams was announced (which already had seemed like the most likely outcome), some of us here on The Shadow Council were more or less pipe-dreaming about who would be a dream director to do Ep IX. Chris Nolan was, of course, mentioned among Spielberg, Jackson, Villeneuve, etc.

Chris Nolan would actually be a logistical impossibility with this short of notice, full stop. His production company, Syncopy, is contractually tied to Warner Bros. almost forevermore. But, hell, let’s dream.

So with that idea in mind–and because I was already deep into an editing project–I decided to put together my own edit inspired by the Inception trailer. What occurred to me was that the Inception trailer itself wasn’t only putting on display the overall plot of the film, but we saw hints of Cobb’s motivation really was just him trying to “go home.” This theme plays throughout The Force Awakens of errybody goin’ home, so I used a touch of that as well. I hope you enjoy.
